[Also in Group XXII] Apparatus for passing metal strip twice through a surface-working machine to work first one side and then the other, comprises a feed-platform 1 from which a strip 4 is fed by apparatus 3 which may be of the kind disclosed in Specification 737,069, on to a bed 4a and to one or more treating machines 8, e.g. milling machines, and a curved roller conveyer 16 capable of being connected to bed 4a by pivoted switch 14 whereby the strip is guided upwardly and rearwardly, in relation to the feed-in direction of machine 8, so as to be turned over. The strip then passes down a shoot 22 or roller conveyer to engage feed rollers 24 which pass it on to a bed 25 with its previously lower surface uppermost. Alternatively, the shoot may feed the strip back on to platform 1. On reversing the feed rollers 24, the strip is fed along guide 26 and on to bed 4a to pass through machine 8 which treats the other surface. The feeding cycle may be repeated until both sides have been sufficiently treated and finally the strip is passed out either by engaging the strip with feed rollers 3 which are reversed, or by raising switch 14 so that the strip passes on to a conveyer 12.
