A delay blasting devicefor connecting two lengths of detonating fuze cord comprises a casing 3 secured around cups2 crimped to the cord ends, a delay element 5 similar to the delay of Specification739,929 being placed between the cups and lead azides, charges 4 being interposed betweenthe element 5 and the cups. The charge in the element 5 may be 70 per cent. lead oxide and 30 per cent silicon. More thanonehelical passage filled with the delay composition may extend through the element5.
