[Also in Group XXXVII] A liquid-cooled motor, e.g. for coal-cutting machines, is protected against running without the liquid supply by means of cock 3 interlocked with the motor control circuit 15. The cock spindle 10 carries a quadrant plate 6 having a recess 8 permitting a spring-loaded plunger 4 to move sufficiently to close contacts A when the cock is in the open position. In this position the motor may be started by button E and stopped by button 14. If the cock is turned off, the quadrant 6 presents an unrecessed face to the plunger 4, thus opening the contacts A and stopping the motor. If the liquid pressure is insufficient, a spring-loaded piston 17 moves to open the motor circuit at D. A thermal trip may also be included in the circuit.
