Two or more threaded sockets 3 to receive studs 7 are rigidly connected by a thin flexible metal strap 4 secured by spot welding 5a to flanges 5 of the sockets 3 in such a way that the strap 4 closes the inner end of the sockets in a watertight manner. The sockets 3 extend through pre-formed holes in the outer sole or heel and are preferably arranged so that the strap 4 extends transversely across the sole so as not to impair its flexibility.
