Powdered clay is injected through a nozzle 18 into one of four moulds 9 mounted on an intermittently rotated table which is then rotated through 90 degrees, where the clay is pressed by a die 19. The die 19 and injection head 14 are moved vertically by a hydraulic plunger 17. During the next quarter revolution of the table a cam track 15 causes the mould 9 to be lifted, and as it rises, a friction plate 25 rotates the mould, so that tools 22, 23 trim the moulded article. At the fourth station, the article is removed manually for firing. The mould may have vents for the escape of air.
