Classes 20(4) and 87(1) In a method of constructing the outer and party walls of buildings having more than one storey and ferro-concrete frames or steel frames consisting of stanchions and girders, the outer and party walls of each storey constitute a rigid wall casing resting ori the girders of the frame, each wall casing being structurally independent of the other wall casings and surrounding or partly surrounding with intervening clearance the stanchions of the frame and the girders upon which the wall casing constituting the next higher storey rests, so as to allow some freedom of relative movement between the frame and the casings. Fig. 2 shows a vertical stanchion 1 surrounded by a wall casing comprising specially shaped bricks 3 and 4 which are spaced at 13 from the stanchion while Fig. 1 shows a wall casing partly surrounding and spaced from at 13 a horizontal girder 2. In modifications the wall casings are constituted by concrete cast between slabs which act as a permanent shuttering. Foil or paper may be interposed between the stanchions or girders of e.g. the blocks 3 and 4.
