Class 20(3) A vehicle of the four door hard-top sedan type having no centre pillar and no fixed door frame above the body waist line, except for a ventipane window frame 18, is provided with a mechanical seal between the rear vertical frame portion 24 of a vertically slidable front window 12, mounted within a front door 4 hinged at its forward edge to the vehicle body and latched .at its rearward edge to a centre pillar 6, and the front vertical frame portion 26 of a vertically slidable rear window 20 which is mounted and supported within a rear door 8, hinged at its forward edge to the centre pillar 6 and latched at its rearward edge 10 to the vehicle body. The front vertical frame member 26 of the rear window 20 has a dovetail groove 28 which accommodates a frusto-conical sealing strip 32 having a groove 34 defined by two rounded lips 36, 37. The rear vertical frame member 24 of the front window 12 has a T-slot 38 for a metal sealing member 44 which is urged toward the rear by a number of coil compression springs 48 fitted within vertically spaced bores 50 in the sealing member 44 and reacting against the base of the slot 38 so that flanges 46 on the sealing member 44 abut against the shoulders 42 of the T-shaped slot 38. The protruding edge of the sealing member 44 has oblique surfaces 52, 53 terminating in a blunt nose 54 which engages within the groove 34 in the sealing strip 32 when the doors are closed. In a modification the sealing member in the rear frame edge 24 of the front window frame 12 is urged rearward by a number of leaf springs which extend within a channel along the length of the corresponding edge of the sealing member and have their ends bearing against the base of the T-shaped slot, the nose of the sealing member being provided with a groove of semi-circular cross section to receive a bead in the sealing member carried by the forward frame member 28 of the rear window 20.
