摘要
Textile fabrics containing wool are treated at room temperature with a solution of an acidic organic substance, e.g. thioglycollic acid, chloracetic acid, phenol or cresol, which is then completely removed by washing, and the fabrics are dried and set in a desired shape, e.g. in pleats or creases, by ironing or pressing at elevated temperature. The fabric may be in the form of a garment, or may be made into a garment after the liquid treatment and before shape-setting. The acidic organic compound may be dissolved in water or in an organic solvent, e.g. kerosene. In an example the solvent is a solution of benzene in a petroleum fraction boiling between 160 DEG and 260 DEG C. The examples describe the treatment of fabrics of wool mixed with polyamide, polyester and polyacrylonitrile fibres.
