Class 44 [Also in Group XIV] Elastic tapes 4 stretched across frames to form a resilient foundation or support for upholstery &c. are partially wrapped around the frame members and anchored against the pull of the tape by means flush with or tangential to the members such as a plate 1 engaging a flange 5 and having fingers 2 inserted through holes 3 in the tape or a slotted plate 7 (Fig. 6). A modified plate has two parallel slots. In other modifications, hooks, or a plate having hooks stitched to the tape engage the flange 5. In further modifications the flange 5 has spikes or fingers engaging holes in the tapes (Fig. 19). In a still further modification (Fig. 27) the spiked plate forms the lower flange of a frame member and in other modifications the plate enters a slot in the frame member or has alternate sections 11 bent to engage the lower flange of a frame member (Fig. 40).
