[Also in Group XXV] An anchoring pad 14 (Fig. 2) is received in a pocket 50 in a member 51, to secure a freight carrier to a vehicle chassis, in such a way that the freight carrier can be removed from the chassis by a straight lift but is free for a limited lateral displacement which prevents the freight carrier being raised from the vehicle. In the construction illustrated the pad 14 is carried by the vehicle and has inclined surfaces 42, 42SP1/SP, 41, 411 on which slide corresponding surfaces 53, 551, 54, 541 on the pocket 50 so that horizontal movement of the freight carrier 10 raises the freight carrier until surfaces 43, 55 or 431, 551 abut. The pads 14 are pivoted to the vehicle chassis about horizontal axes 31 so that they can be turned from the operative position shown in Fig. 3, in which they abut against a block 39 and a portion 40 of the chassis floor 35, to a retracted position (not shown). The pad 14 is held in the position shown in Fig. 3 by a portion 36 of the chassis floor to the position shown. An inclined surface 44 on the pad 14 engages a sloping rear face 56 to the pocket 50 which has a cylindrical boss 46 taking into and welded to a corresponding recess in a side sill 21 of the container.
