Improvements in or relating to the fast dyeing of nitrogenous fibers with water-soluble metal-containing azo dyestuffs and acid milling dyestuffs

Nitrogenous fibres such as wool, silk and nylon, are dyed in a weakly acid region from an aqueous bath containing (a) a metalliferous azo dyestuff or an acid milling dyestuff or mixtures thereof; (b) one or more water-soluble polyglycol ethers, the hydrocarbon radical combined with the polyglycol residue carrying at least 8 carbon atoms and, if desired, hetero atoms such as N and/or O and/or P, and other substituents such as carboxyl groups; (c) an organic acid such as acetic, propionic or citric acid; (d) a buffer salt such as sodium, potassium or ammonium acetate, propionate or citrate or disodium phosphate; (e) at least 10 per cent by weight of the fibre of an alkali metal sulphate, dyeing being effected at the boil. Lists of polyglycol ethers and suitable dyestuffs are given.
