[Also in Group VI] A device for turning and conveying germinating malt in a malting plant comprises an angularly adjustable pick-up device 1 with an attached horizontal conveying device 8 mounted on a trolley transporter 9 movable on rails 2 disposed above, and on either side of, a germinating bed 5. The pick-up device preferably comprises an endless bucket or scraper conveyer 7 running over pulleys 3, 6 and angularly adjustable about the axis of the pulley 3 for inclinational alignment to the slope of the mass to be scooped up. The malt is subsequently dumped on the horizontal conveying device 8 which may comprise a one or more endless scraper conveyers, each with a slide plate 11 located underneath, or consist of one or more inclined vibrating slide plates (not shown) with side strips. The length of the device 8 preferably corresponds to the length of a one-day section of a germinating bed and the guide plate 11 may comprise a trap door 13. The malting plant may additionally include a kiln 14 and a steeping tank 16 separated from the germinating bed by walls 15, 15SP1/SP and 17 respectively into and over which are rail and floor extensions 2a, 4a and 2b and 4b respectively, whereby the trolley transporter 9 may jut into the kiln and over the steep tank 16, the pick-up device being removed from the trolley transporter 9 and replaced when this is inside the kiln or over the tank.
