摘要
In a process for purifying benzene with purified coke oven gas (see Group XIII), the purified coke oven gas is compressed to a pressure above 20 atmospheres, mixed with recycled stock gas and the benzene to be purified and heated to a temperature of about 200 DEG C., the mixture being then passed to an evaporator in which resins formed are separated and from which a mixture of gas and vaporized benzene is passed to be heated to about 350 DEG C. and led over a hydrogenating catalyst. The resulting gases and vapours are then cooled, and purified benzene and residual gas are separated under pressure, and the residual gas is recycled as stock gas. The hydrogenating catalysts may be compounds of metals of the 1st-8th groups, e.g. the oxides, sulphur compounds and phosphorus compounds of metals of the 4th-8th groups and particularly the sulphides or oxides of molybdenum or tungsten in combination with nickel sulphide or oxide or the sulphides or oxides of molybdenum with the sulphides or oxides of cobalt on activated alumina.
