A method of and means for discharging baked waffles from waffle irons

Pairs of waffle plates 1, 2 attached to each other by chain conveyor links 4 are cooled to shrink the baked waffle to facilitate its detachment by flapping the plate 1 on the plate 2 by cams 9 and 10 actuating cam pins 8 in the plate 1, the wavy line 7 showing the path of the pins 8 during the flapping. Other cams 11, 12 act to open the plates for further cooling and ejection. The waffle is ejected by one or other of brushes 13, 14, Fig. 5, the brush 13 for the inner waffle plate 2 having a reciprocating and twisting motion across the face of plate 2 while the brush 14 has a reciprocating motion across the face of the opened plate 1. These brushes also scrub off any flakes of baked waffle. The waffles drop on to a conveyer 39 Fig. 8 on yielding springs. They then pass to further cleaning brushes 35, 38 which guide them into a receptacle 37.
