[Class 78(iv)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A cargo-carrying aeroplane .having tail planes carried by booms 10 from the wings is supported when at rest in a position providing ample clearance beneath the tail planes for access to the rear of a centrally placed body 12, which is provided with an end door 46 and a hydraulically operated loading ramp 23. The door 46 and ramp 26 are connected by links 42 so that the former is raised as the latter is moved outwards and downwards by jacks 16. Adjustable feet 32 support the ramp near the hinge during loading. The body has an inclined platform 14 up which loads 55, Fig. 3, may be drawn by a cable and a power operated winch 54. Pulleys 50 are provided on the platform to guide the cable clear of articles already loaded. The ramp 26 may be lowered to the floor as shown in Fig. 1, feet 36 being provided at its outer end, to enable vehicles to be run directly up it.
