A signal is reverberated by delaying it on a magnetic tape and passing the delayed signal through an echo box before its reproduction in a space where it combines with the original signal. As shown, the original signal is applied to a recording head 13 on an endless tape, with an erase head 15, and is subsequently picked off by a head 1, reverberated in an echo box 4 and reproduced by loud-speakers 6 and 8 in a space which also experiences the original signal from loud-speakers 7. Loud-speakers 10 may be fed from a pick-off 2 to give a primary echo and, depending on a switch 9, a further delayed signal from pick-off 3 may also be reverberated or a second primary echo be applied by way of loud-speakers 8. The echo box may also feed the loud-speakers 10. Frequencies below 1 kc. may be denied access to the echo box 4 but be fed back to recording head 13.
