Vanadium values are recovered from the still residue left after the distillation of crude titanium tetrachloride in the presence of mineral oils, by extracting the sludge with water and neutralizing the solution obtained to a pH of at least 4 with an alkali or alkaline earth metal carbonate, oxide or hydroxide. A vanadium pentoxide product is precipitated, dried and calcined. Neutralization is preferably effected to a pH between 4 and 7. Specification 791,651 is referred to.
