A friction coupling 18 is provided between the device 13 and the chain wheel 17 and a freewheel device 14 is provided between the chain wheel 15 with the sprocket 5. Operation.-The sprocket 9 rotates and the conveyer member 3 is tensioned since the sprocket 5 is not driven due to the freewheel device 14. In the event of an interruption of normal operation tension is maintained since on stopping the drive 13 both sprockets 9, 5 remain stationary. The freewheel device will allow the sprocket 5 to move in the direction opposite to normal but the friction coupling 18 ensures that tension in the conveyer is not excessive.
