A handle for an aircraft control column which is shaped to conform to the profile of the palm and fingers of a pilot's hand and which carries electric control devices for operation by the fingers, has a trim control device and a device for controlling the release of bombs or rockets disposed for operation by the pilot's thumb. A handle 1 attached to a control column (not shown) by a nut 6 is profiled at 2-5 to the fingers of a pilot's hand and it has a trigger 8, shown in Fig. 1, in its operative position, for operation by the index finger to actuate a push-button (not shown) for firing cannons or machine guns and another button for simultaneously controlling a camera. A button 43, operated by the middle finger, controls a roll stabilizing device and a button 42, operated by the ring finger, controls the radio whilst a trigger 41 operated by the little finger may be locked by a spring-loaded plunger in either of two positions to control a button 40 for locking an automatic pilot. The head of the handle carries a button 9 operated by the thumb for releasing bombs or rockets and guarded by the trigger 8 when this is moved into its inoperative position. A cruciform trigger 22 for trimming the aircraft, also operated by the thumb, is mounted in a ball joint for operation of four switches energizing the trim adjusting mechanism.
