Improvements in or relating to arrangements for effecting fine adjusting movement of microscope stages and other movable members requiring precision adjustment
892,836. Microscope stages; fine adjustments. LEITZ G.m.b.H., ERNST. Sept. 2, 1959 [Sept. 25, 1958], No. 29905/59. Class 97(1). A microscope stage 7 is slidably mounted on a plate 5 by balls 9, this plate 5 being pivoted to parallel arms 44SP1/SP which are themselves pivoted to a base 1. The plate 5 is connected by a cord 24 to a roller 26, rotatable by a knob 27 so that operation of this knob gives to the plate 5 which forms one side of a parallelogram, a horizontal and a vertical component of motion. In order that the stage 7 shall partake of only the vertical component of motion of the plate 5, it is pressed by springs 14, 14SP1/SP into engagement with abutments 12, 12SP1/SP and 13, 13SP1/SP which guide the stage during its vertical motion. These abutments are each carried by a pivoted arm having a roller 16 in contact with a wedge 17 displaceable by rack and pinion under the control of knobs 19 and 20 operation of which causes the stage to be moved by the abutments in orthogonal directions in a horizontal plane.
