An egg-registering device carried by the hen comprises a back portion 14 which extends along the hen's spine and carries limbs 15 fixedly interconnected at their rear ends and shaped to fit round the hen's tail. Arms 17 extend from the rear 16 of the limbs 15 and are bent downwardly to form an arcuate part 18 which bears against the hen's body at two points. A counting device 10 is secured between the arms 17 and is actuated by prongs 13 which are swung rearwardly by an egg as it is laid. In a modification the arms are broadened into blades which bear against the hen's body and the counting device is actuated by a single prong 13 projecting through an opening in one of the arms. The counting device may also be housed in one of the arms. Hooks or buttons 19, 21 are provided for fastening the device to a harness worn by the hen. U.S.A. Specification 1,861,854 is referred to.
