An electrically-operated drill comprises a casing 1 and a handle 3 pivoted to the casing at 4, so that the handle can be locked into the position of Fig. 2 by a catch 5, or can be pivoted into the position of Fig. 4, where it is locked by a catch 10. Switch 6, Fig. 5, is housed in the handle, and is actuated by a lever 7, the switch and motor being connected by a flexible electrical lead. In a modification, Fig. 6, the switch is mounted in casing 1 and is actuated by a flexible link 11 operated by lever 7.
