934,099. Making wax models for lost-wax casting. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 1, 1959 [Dec. 4, 1958], No. 40794/59. Class 87(2). Molten wax is passed through a liquid cooling system, the temperature of which is kept constant with the aid of a heat source, and forced into a mould in the plastic state. The wax is stored in a heated pressure container 1 having an outlet 4 connected with a heatexchanger comprising a helical tube 8 leading to a nozzle 10 and mounted in a liquid bath 15 for cooling, which bath contains a helical heating element 14 the temperature of which can be controlled for controlling the cooling. The outer wall of the bath 15 contains a helical tube 16 through which water flows so that the liquid, e.g. oil, inside the bath is cooled continuously. Forcing the wax in a plastic state is claimed to yield more accurate wax models than the use of molten wax, but the temperature of the plastic wax is critical since small temperature fluctuations involve considerable viscosity variations, hence the provision of the adjustable heat source.
