Device for the heat treatment of saw teeth and its application to saw-sharpening machines

A device (Fig. 4) for the heat-treatment of the teeth of saws by contact with an electrode adapted to be frictionally engaged with a saw blade, coupled or intended to be coupled with means having an automatic feed motion for a saw blade comprises in combination a carriage 7 with guiding and gripping jaws 8 for a saw blade S, a horizontal hinged pivot 14 carried by the carriage 7 and positionally adjustable thereto both horizontally and vertically, and a contact-piece 15 arranged to pivot about said pivot 14 to bring its end in contact with the tips of saw teeth being heat treated. Either of the jaws 8 may be insulated from the remainder of the carriage 7 to form the said electrode for feeding current to the saw blade. The pivot 14 is carried by a slider whose position in a tubular lever 9 is controlled by a hand wheel 13. The lever 9 is pivoted about a horizontal spindle 12. The contact-piece 15 (Fig. 3) is adjustably secured in a tube 15SP1/SP by a screw 16 and is urged into contact with the saw teeth by a spring 17, the pivoting movement being limited by a stop 18SP1/SP. The device may be associated with a sharpening machine (Fig. 1, not shown) comprising a mechanism for providing tooth by tooth progression of the saw, or may itself be provided with such a mechanism.
