[Also in Division G5] In a dictating machine the position of a soundrecording head relative to a sound-record carrier is indicated by marks 19, 20 produced on a strip 2 of thermo-sensitive paper moved relative to a recording-head 3 located behind the strip 2 which is guided by a transparent guide 1. Through the guide 1 can be observed the marks 19, 20 produced by heat generated when an electric current is passed through parts 13, 16 respectively of a heating wire embracing the ends of insulating plates 4, 5 and passing round a rivet 14 holding the plates together. Current applied through lead 18 and either lead 11 or 17 reaches the wire 13 through conducting paths 6, 7, 8 and 9 "printed" on the faces of plates 4, 5.
