Improvements in change-speed transmission mechanism driven by fluid pressure driven motors

Movement of a selector rod 17 of a twospeed sliding wheel gear 7 in series behind a hydrostatic transmission is prevented by a locking mechanism 21 when a by-pass valve 23 connects a motor 1 to a variable displacement pump. The locking mechanism comprises a dog 21 fast with the by-pass valve operating lever 22 which dog engages recesses 19, 20 in the selector rod 17. For ratio shift the lever 22 is moved clockwise to release the selector rod 17 and to operate the by-pass valve 23 which short circuits the motor 1 whereupon the selector rod is free to shift axially the gear pair 8, 9. A flexible coupling 5 is provided between the motor output shaft 4 and gear input shaft 6.
