A scraper conveyer, e.g. for a road-paving machine, comprises a plurality of bars 19 each having a quadrangular cross-section and being respectively mounted at the ends on two parallel chains, each bar having secured thereto, e.g. by bolts 27 or welding, a steel sheet 26 which projects below the bar to provide a scraper. The chains slide in guides 16 having fixed thereto a plate 15 along which the scrapers slide; the guides 16 protect the chains from the material being scraped. The projection 28 of the sheet 26 below the bar 19 may be adjustable to compensate for wear and to ensure that the scrapers are subject to vertical pressure due to sliding engagement of the chains with the tops of the guides 16.
