In an arrangement for suppressing corona at the slot exits of stator windings having an anti-corona coating 4 which is joined at 6 to a further coating 5 covering the overhang portion, the joint is protected by a sleeve of insulation 7 which is itself covered with an anti-corona coating 8 making contact with the others, 4 and 5. The anti-corona coatings may be of silicon carbide and the insulation 7 of mica tape secured by resin. The phases may be separated by semi-conductor cement or silicone rubber. The use of graded semi-conductive coatings and trumpet-shaped electrodes is stated to be known.
