Improved safety guard of a screw type elevator conveyor

A screw elevator 3 is mounted in a tube 4 supported by a frame 6 from wheels 7, and driven from motor 5, and the inlet thereto is provided with a finger guard 1. The guard (Fig. 3) is formed of an open mesh 1a and a metal sheet 1b and is secured to tube 4 by clamp 10, and by clamp 9 to projections 7 and 8 secured to tube 4. The guard is eccentrically mounted relative to screw 3 so that material is able to pass to the screw through the open meshwork; and the plate 1b which is the only part of the guard close to the screw is imperforate or perforated such that an operator cannot get his fingers through.
