A wire drawing device comprises a lubricating box in which the die is carried, the box containing a member rotatable about the axis of the die and carrying a guide eye for the wire off-set from the axis, the box also carrying a sheave in driving connection with the rotatable member and itself driven by the wire as the sheave guides the wire into the box. A wire 4SP1/SP to be drawn passes over a sheave 9 and through a non-axial hole 14 in a cylinder 6 to an eye 15 mounted off-centre in the cylinder. The sheave 9 is driven by the wire and through a worm 11 and worm-wheel 12 rotates the cylinder 6, so that the wire 4 traverses the surface of a cone convergent to the aperture 3 of a die 2. Lubricant is contained in a chamber in front of the die.
