1,030,619. Concrete piles. ENTERPRISES H. COURBOT. Dec. 3, 1963 [Dec. 3, 1962; July 15, 1963; Aug. 23, 1963], No. 47794/63. Heading E1H. A process for the production of piles comprises forming a casing from hollow -tube portions whichare adhesively secured end-toend and then filled, the length of the casing being increased as the driving of the pile progresses. The casing is made from a number of prefabricated tubes e.g. of concrete or metal which are bonded together by a synthetic adhesive having good mechanical properties. After the casing has penetrated to the required depth it is filled with concrete 4 which may be reinforced. For penetration a mandrel (Fig. 4, not shown) is used inside the casing, a helmet being disposed at the upper end of the mandrel for a better distribution of the forces applied during the driving. An expandible mandrel (Fig. 12, not shown) may be used. Some of the hollow tube portions may have lateral orifices, each orifice being equipped with a ball-type valve (Fig. 8, not shown) which prevents soil entering the casing but allows concrete passed into the casing to flow through the orifices into the surrounding soil. In an embodiment illustrated in (Fig. 13, not shown) drilling is effected by means of an Archimedean screw.
