[Also in Division A5] A device for driving an intramedullary nail (see Division A5) into a bone or extracting it comprises a twopart rod 4 having shoulders 4c, 4d at each end and on which a weight 5 is slidable. For inserting the nail, the weight is caused to fall repeatedly against the shoulder 4c nearest the nail and for extracting the nail the weight is urged repeatedly against the other shoulder 4d. The operative end of the device is secured to an interument 2 threaded into the nail 1.
