Bulky yarns and fabrics of acrylic composite fibres

In the manufacture of a bulky yarn or fabric, acrylic composite fibres, in which coil crimps may be developed by differential thermal shrinkage of the two or more components, is mixed spun with an acrylic fibre having a thermal shrinkage value of at least 5% and a shrinking power of at least 30 mg. per denier as measured in hot water at 98 DEG C. The resulting yarn or fabric made therefrom is subjected to wet or dry heat treatment at a temperature over 90 DEG C. e.g. simultaneously with dyeing, to develop the full bulk effects therein.
