A mechanical creeper has drivers for frictionally engaging and moving a truck, each driver comprising a base 2 welded to chain links 4, a plate 6 having side stops 7 to prevent lateral movement relative to base 2, and a box-shaped member 1, 5 having end extensions 11 for engagement beneath base 2; a rubber or rubber-like member 3 is compressed between member 1, 5 and plate 6. Slots 9, 10 in side plates 5 and base 2 enable arms 81 of a clamp 8 to engage plate 6; to insert a new driver, clamp 8 compresses member 3 between plate 6 and member 1, 5 until the side stops 7 can be raised above base 2, the driver can then be slid laterally; on release of the clamp the three parts of the driver can be separated for renewal.
