1,047,950. Axial-flow blowers. DINGLERWERKE A.G. Dec. 18, 1963 [Dec. 21, 1962], No. 50035/63. Heading F1C. An adjusting mechanism for the angular setting of the rotor blades of an axial-flow blower or the like is carried inside a stationary casing supported by the rotor, and comprises a member adapted to be shifted along the rotor axis, with its longitudinal position controlled from the outside of the casing, so as to move a further member coaxial with the rotor, rotating in unison therewith and adapted to adjust the angular setting of the blades in accordance with its longitudinal position. The shaft 2 of the rotor 1 of an axial flow blower is journalled in bearings (not shown) and the rotor supports a stationary casing 11 through a ball bearing 12 and a hub 10. The spindles 3 of the rotor blades 4 are connected through cranks 5 to an adjusting disc 7 which rotates with the rotor and is connected through a ball bearing 8 to a rod 9 so as to be movable axially with the latter to adjust the blades. For this purpose the rod 9 is movable axially by bell cranks 14 which are turned in opposite directions by nuts 16 engaging threads of opposite hand on a rod 17 which is turned by an articulated shaft 18. With this arrangement, there is no additional end-thrust exerted on the rotor shaft bearings during adjustment. In an alternative arrangement, the axial movement of the adjusting disc 7 is produced by a crank and connecting rod, or an eccentric mechanism, the crank or eccentric being turned by means of an articulated shaft or by means of a lever mounted on an extension of the shaft projecting outside the stationary casing. The angular setting of the articulated shaft or shaft extension may be transmitted to a remote station to provide an indication of the angular setting of the blades.
