[Also in Division B8] In a mechanism for automatically moving filter plates 7 in filter presses as described in Specification 1.079,407, the conveyor member 43 has at least a part conical configuration which tapers towards the end of the conveyor member 43 which first contacts the plates to be transported, the conveyor member being so mounted as to be movable longitudinally along the press and substantially at right angles to its longitudinal movement. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 (not shown) the shaft 10 is under elastic pressure urging it towards the filter plate. In the embodiment of Fig. 7, shaft 10 is fixed except for rotation, and the conveyor member 43 is mounted on shaft 10 by elastic members 44 and 45 and is keyed to the shaft ,for rotation therewith by an attached rigid washer 46.
