[Also in Division B7] A grille 2 for protecting the water-intake channel 7 in the hull (1), Fig. 1 (not shown), of a water-jet-propelled boat comprises a plurality of parallel bars 2a, 2b of various rectangular cross-sections and orientated in a fore-and-aft direction, which bars are cleansed by vertical movement of an inter-meshing grille 25, comprising bars 24, when a manually-operable lever 16 is actuated against the action of a torsion-spring 19, the lever being attached to a rotatable shaft 17 having arms 20 fixed thereon that are pivotally connected at their extremities 23 to a pair 24a of the bars 24. Pins 28 on the outermost bars 24b of the grille 25 are slidable in inclined rectilinear ledges 29 on the adjacent bars 2c of the grille 2. The bars of the grille 2 are attached by welding to inclined supporting-plates (4, 5), Fig. 2 (not shown), at the lower end of the channel 7. When the grille 25 is raised or lowered by actuation of the lever 16 the pins 28 travel along the ledges 29 and teeth or serrations (27) on the rearward ends of the bars 24 slide across the uppermost surface of the plate (5) to effect cleansing thereof.
