An inflatable splint, Fig. 1, (not shown) in the form of a doubled walled bag (1) the edges of which are connected together by a slide fastener (2) is inflated to a predetermined pressure by an inflating device (see group F1) which incorporates a relief valve (25) that opens when the pressure in a rigid tube (7) connected to the valved flexible inlet (5) of the splint reaches the predetermined value. Air is supplied to the tube through a mouthpiece (12) or from an aspirator bulb, pump or compressed air bottle (19).
