Antibiotic-coated medical devices： with an emphasis on inflatable penile prosthesis

One of the most serious complications associated with the use of the inflatable penile prosthesis is infection.This can lead to significant morbidity for the patient, as well as significant health care costs. A number of methods have been used in attempts at minimizing the infection risk, including applying an antibiotic coating to the medical devise. This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of these products in preventing clinically significant infections.(Asian J Androl 2004 Sep; 6: 249-257)
