The seat unit 7 is pivoted at 12 on a pair of arms 9 carried on pivots 13 on the limbs of a U-shaped frame 8 so that actuation of the jacks 14, 15 effects movement of the seat unit 7 from a position adjacent the ground to a raised position. Further jacks 15a, 15b effect movement of the back 3 and the leg and foot rest 5, 6 with respect to the seat 4. Other arrangements of jacks and arms are described.
