Hydrated titanium oxide is prepared by precipitation from a hydrochloric acid solution of titanium tetrachloride by a sodium hydroxide solution to give a floc which may be washed with water or sodium nitrate solution, or may be dried and placed in water to form granules. The hydrated titanium oxide is used for deionizing an aqueous radiactive solution by contact with the solution (see Division G6).
