Co-ordination complexes of N,N,N1,N1-tetrakis-(hydroxyalkyl)-alkylene diamines and heavy metal halides having the general formulae FORM:1021383/C3/1 wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent the same or different hydroxyalkyl radicals, M and M1 represent the same or different heavy metal atoms, X and X1 are the same or different halides, n and n1 represent the valence of M and M1, and x is an integer of from 2 to 6 (see Division C2), are used as accelerators in the vulcanization of sulphur-curable polyurethane polymers having olefinic side chains such as polyalkylene ether or polyalkylene ester polyurethane polymers. Other materials which may be present in the polymer cure mixture are sulphur, accelerators, activating agents, fillers and pigments. Examples describe the use of the complexes in the curing of an unsaturated polyurethane polymer which is prepared by reacting adipic acid with a mixture of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol, reacting the product with a mixture of 2, 4- and 2, 6-tolylene diisocyanates and treating the product obtained with glycerol alpha-allyl ether.ALSO:The invention comprises co-ordination complexes of N,N,N1,N1 - tetrakis - (hydroxyalkyl)-alkylene diamines and heavy metal halides having the general formulae FORM:1021383/C2/1 or FORM:1021383/C2/2 wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent the same or different hydroxyalkyl radicals, M and M1 represent the same or different heavy metal atoms, X and X1 are the same or different halides, n and n1 represent the valence of M and M1, and x is an integer of from 2 to 6. The compounds are prepared by reacting one or more heavy metal halides with an N,N,N1,N1-tetrakis - (hydroxyalkyl) - alkylene diamine. Specified heavy metals are Pb, Zn, Co, Mn, Cd, Cr, Sb, Sn and Te. Examples are given.
