Insulated copper articles contacting isotactic polypropylene containing a thiodialkanoic acid diester and a polynuclear phenolic antioxidant

Articles comprise copper in contact with a composition of polypropylene and as stabilizer therefore a diester of thiodipropionic or thiobutyric acid plus the reaction product of one mol. of aldehyde or ketone having 4 to 6 carbon atoms or of sulphur dichloride with 2 mols. of a phenol having a non-reactive ortho substituent (e.g. hydrocarbon or ether) and a free para position. Preferred diesters are dilauryl and distearyl. The phenols used also may contain meta substituents (e.g. Me, Et or MeO). Optionally other materials such as pigments, dyes, fillers, calcium and zinc soaps and U.V. light stabilizers such as carbon black, may be present. Articles specified are coated wire, mouldings with copper inserts and condensers. Specification 796,285 and U.S.A. Specification 2,831,897 are referred to.
