In a device for transferring sweets from a conveyer to a wrapping machine, gripping jaws 57, 58, Fig. 4 (not shown), carried by arms 60, 61 are mounted on the ends of rods 16, 22. These rods are reciprocated axially by cams 3, 4, Fig. 2 (not shown), mounted on a shaft 2, and pivoted levers 10, 11. The shafts are rotated to and fro together by a third cam, a bell-crank 12, a rod 39 attached to lugs 33 on a sleeve 31 and a rod 30 which connects the sleeve 31 to a sleeve 28. This rotation causes the jaws to swing so that the sweet may be gripped by further jaws 62, Fig. 4 (not shown). The rotation is prevented from taking place until a sweet arrives on a platform 51, Fig. 3 (not shown), and operates a trigger 50, by a lever 45 which co-operates with a plate 44. The jaws 57, 58 may be replaced by a pusher plate 55 which pushes the sweets towards the wrapping machine one at a time. The pusher makes the return stroke in a raised position.
