摘要
Iron-aluminium-manganese alloys have compositions, in per cent by weight, within the follong range: .Al.over 6.0 and up to 20.0 .Mn.18.0-40.0 .C.0.15-2.0 .Nb.up to 4.0 .Si.up to 3.0 .N.up to 1.0 .Fe and impurities the balance.. The alloys may also contain one or more of Be, Co, Ni, Mo, W, V, Cu, Ta, Ti, Zr up to 10.0 each and up to 15.0 in total, and up to 5.0 Cr, up to 2.0 B and up to 2.0 Ce. The alloys may be hot worked in the temperature range 950-1250 DEG C, solution treated in the range 800-1250 DEG C and quenched in oil or water. The alloys may then be cold worked and hardened in the range 400-700 DEG C. Among the uses of the alloy referred to are compressor blades and discs, aero engine bearing housings, spings, hot-forging dies, gears, valve seat inserts. The Provisional Specifications describe also alloys containing 2-40 of Mn, which alloys may also contain Mg.
