Prefabricated element for use in the construction of prefabricated buildings and method of erecting such buildings

Heading E1B. Reinforced concrete main, 7, and corner 28, panels, each basically of channel section, are concreted together to form building walls. The building has a peripheral concrete foundation strip supporting a peripheral plinth 4, (Fig. 9, not shown), which in turn supports the panels 7 and 28. The panels may be of storey-height, or e.g., lintel-to-eaves height, and the vertical ribs 9, 10 (Fig. 3, not shown) thereon extend below the web of each panel to support the panel on the plinth. The ribs 9 and 10 are interconnected at their tops, below the top of the panel, by a horizontal rib 11, (Figs. 10, 12, not shown) which acts as a bottom shutter for an in-situ reinforced concrete ring beam, which can support the roof (in a single storey building), or further wall panels. Each panel has an outer store facing 25 cast into its surface, and the panels are spaced apart by inner and outer wooden separators 30 (Figs. 5, 6, not shown) during the casting of the in-situ joining concrete 29, 31, (Figs. 5, 6). Expanded polystyrene sheets 37 are employed between the vertical panel ribs.
