An analogue computer 6 mounted in the cab 2 of a jib-crane continuously compares the overturning moment acting on the crane with the maximum permissible load.- The computer operates from the battery provided for the crane engine. The tension in the luffing cable is measured by a dynamometer 10 and fed into the computer, and the jib angle is measured by an electrical device 11. Knobs 7, 8 are provided for adjusting the computer for various operating conditions of the crane. Voltages which are proportional to the actual and permissible loads are compared by the computer.
