A device for masking a colour TV tube comprises a metallic shadow mask 10 and a funnel shaped metallic magnetic shield 13 extending rearward from the mask along virtually the entire length of the conical portion of the tube and terminating near the bulb neck, the shield at its wide end being rigidly atached, by welding for example, to the periphery of the shadow mask for strengthening the latter to make it substantially inflexible. Locating and mounting springs 20 may be fixed by welding for instance to index and mount the mask on to the glass bulb. In an alternative embodiment, outwardly flared portions of rims 12 and 14 are joined face to face and holes provided therein to receive locating pins on the inner side of the tube.
