[Also in Division F4] Air pressure or suction waves or earth shock waves are utilized to cause relative movement between a body 11 of comparatively large mass and a stored energy means 3 having a small mass and associated with control means 2 for a power or duct system, the body 11 upon movement initiating through an adjustable abutment member 13 release of the stored energy means to operate the control means 2 to close the system. The shock wave passes through a deflector grid 18 and strikes sieve diaphragms 16, 17 before striking deflector surfaces 14 of the body 11 which turns about a knife edge 10 so that the member 13 pushes the means 3 beyond a dead-centre position. Screws 12 adjust the position of the body 11 which may be loaded by springs 20 when disposed horizontally. In a modification, a counterweighted lever 25 (Fig. 2, not shown) engaging a notch 24 in the means 2 is released by a cable 28 actuated from a stroke-producing device 27 and the means 3 pivots about a roller 21. In further modifications, the body 11 actuates the means 3 through bell-crank levers and is arranged to respond to pressure waves arriving from various directions or an air deflector in the form of concentric conical baffles is provided to divert air pressure waves arriving from any direction on to the body 11.
