摘要
A glass sheet is coated by vacuum deposition with a metal, e.g. Fe, Mn, Cd, Bi, Co, Cr, Cu, Au, Pb or Ni or a lower oxide of the metal, e.g. cobalt oxide and then heated in air at 600 to 1250 F. During heating the sheet is fabricated, e.g. shaped by allowing it to sag on to a mould or by pressing between moulds. After pressing, the glass may be rapidly chilled by jets of air (Fig. 6, not shown). The sheets may be assembled together with a plastics interlayer to form a windscreen. A metal oxide film of, e.g. titanium dioxide or aluminium trioxide may be vacuum deposited, sputtered or sprayed on the sheet either before or after the coating. Double glazing units may be formed by bending their edges towards each other and fusing them together (Fig. 8, not shown).
